raivan You are Such a Beautiful artist. I'm kinda collecting You now. From the Very first time I heard You, you were in my heart.I AM a True Eden Alley girl.. but I love everything you do. It Reminds me of my youngest days and Camper Van Betthoven. ABSOLUTELY everything you Do is important to Mee. You will Never know what this album Means to Mee. We're ALL misfits after a fashion... This is SUCH an Amazing Album. Every Day I find Something NEW...if I can figure out Where I Was. to begin with....... Favorite track: Splinters.

billydenk This collection is as intimate and direct as guitar and voice can be. The performances come from the heart. The words are real, honest, sincere. If these tunes are misfits, I've found some new, old friends.... Favorite track: Deep In My Heart.

Please don't judge me harshly now Please don't lock me up in a prison cell I've done no unnatural thing I'm as innocent as lightning Just the victim of an urge unrestricted to this world i'm addicted and i can't get enough Quiet, unassuming, another common human unblessed like all the rest when push comes to shove Though my crime can't be denied Though the evidence is plain and clear i can't be blamed for what i've done I was only trying to have a little fun Just the victim of an urge unrestricted to this world i'm addicted and i can't get enough Quiet, unassuming, Another common human Unblessed like all the rest when push comes to shove Downtown Dullsville Lookin like road kill Feelin like a sellout Gotta get the hell out Hungry and eager like a young Bob Seger Like a rock band in trance town Caught with their amps down Like a winemaker's daughter sellin bottled water in a brothel by the sea shore Don't call me whore Just the victim of an urge unrestricted to this world i'm addicted and i can't get enough Quiet, unassuming, another common human unblessed like all the rest when push comes to shove Push comes to shove Push comes to shove Please don't judge me harshly now Please don't take away my credit card I've done no unnatural thing I'm as innocent as lightning as innocent as lightning

I have tasted nothing sweet Since our love went sour I still crave you in my sleep and every waking hour Oh yeah I got nothin else I'm obsessing on you and shaming myself I wish i could claim that i have left you far behind i wish i could say your love life's no concern of mine But i can't tell a lie because i'm the kind of guy who'll deceive you with silence sneakin up like a spy I'm obsessing on you I got nothin else pretty pathetic it's true I'm ashamed of myself Always wondering how you are and hoping you're not fine Always knowing when you're home and where you go online Oh yeah I got nothing else I'm obsessing on you and shaming myself I'm obsessing on you Cause i got nothin else pretty pathetic, it's true I'm ashamed of myself

I can't seem to get this time off my hands It sticks to my fingers time and time again i try to dilute my concentration in faith in God above in a mist of distilled spirits and their unholy love And i can't seem to get your words off my mind They're tangled up my hair Finally i understand what you tried to communicate when you twisted my head what i thought was just an exercise was an exorcism instead Now i'd settle my debt But try as i might I can't seem to get a dual or a duet right
7.
I got one good punch in before the cops showed up just in time you could have kicked my ass and now, you've got your reason So it's a reasonable assumption that there'll be more to come more hell to be raised more damage to be done You'll have to settle the debt You'll have to even the score You've got your reason now, but tell me, what was your reason before? I wasn't quite sure Why'd you pick that fight with me? Man, what ever made you feel the need? Was it your devil-may-care or my long hair? What was it made you want to make me bleed? Why did you lay hands on me? I never wanted to be anything but your friend Oh what a shame that we have come to be enemies in the end For your great physical prowess I have a deep respect And not the slightest doubt You'd knock me out If just one punch could connect So what have you got to prove? Why'd you pick that fight with me? Was it indicative of a deeper need Or somethin done on a dare or some wild hair? What was it made you want to make me bleed? Why'd you pick that fight with me? Was it somethin in your daddy's seed? Was it your love for the south or my smart mouth? What was it made you want to make me bleed?

The Cover 02:22
I got too drunk last night and i said some things you may recall crazy words and the crazy thing is that i meant them all straight from the heart did i say too much? The cover is off the bed I guess i lost my head but who's the one who said Let's have another? i guess we crossed a line it felt right at the time and is it such a crime to love each other? I got too drunk last night guess i'll pay the price that i haven't yet I got too drunk last night and i did some things that i don't regret Straight from the heart Did it mean that much? The cover is off the bed I guess i lost my head but who's the one who said Let's have another? i guess we crossed a line it felt right at the time and is it such a crime to love each other?

I'm an only son Black sheep on the run Like to have my fun Like to get it done Like to have my fun Like to get it done Cause i'm an army of one I'm an army of one I just wanna drive Feel so alive Put my foot on the gas Kick me some ass Foot on the gas Kick me some ass gonna get it done cause i'm an army of one Where i go, you never know Where i go, you can't follow Where i go, you can't follow cause i'm on the run 'm an army of one I'm up against the wind Up against the sun I'm an army of one and my car is my gun Long, hot summer Big yellow Hummer

I wouldn't say i've got a complicated mind I'll take the easy way out every time But i can tell you i'm deep in my heart My sense of fashion is simple and plain My conversations tend to gravitate to the mundane But i can tell you i'm deep in my heart I can tell you i'm deep in my heart I am deep in my heart i have felt it from the start though i might not look the part i am deep in my heart Some rattle on and on 'bout such and such and so and so Their grand verbosity, to me it all just seems so shallow The only truth i know is deep in my heart The only answer's lyin deep in my heart And i am deep in my heart though i may not seem all that smart like some bachelor of art i am deep oh yeah i am deep in my heart

Currencies 02:32
I paid her a visit She paid me no mind I paid her some attention She paid me back in kind Now i spend a lot of time in her welfare line but i never refuse to pay my dues where the sun don't shine It's mine for yours and those for these we trade in different currencies so many forms of payment great and small and money is the cheapest of them all. I once knew a man He lived out on the street He'd hold out his hand To everyone he'd meet If you paid him some respect and smiled and said, "I ain't got a dime" He'd hand you a dollar and recite this verse of rhyme (He'd say) It's mine for yours and those for these we trade in different currencies so many forms of payment great and small and money is the cheapest of them all. Money is the cheapest of them all.

about

"Lockbox Babies are the songs that go into storage soon after they're written. They're the misfits, the ones that don't make it out into the world, not necessarily bad, just... different. Some showed sides of me i didn't want want people to see. Many were memoirs of loneliness and heartbreak appropriately played solo and alone. A few were never played again after these recordings were made. None were released and most were forgotten until this collection was harvested from old tapes and hard drives. I shouldn't be surprised that they all fit together, being such misfit birds of a feather." -from the original liner notes

credits

released January 21, 2019

The oldest tracks (2&6) are circa 1995, captured by Paul Dieter at Jackson Browne's studio in Santa Monica, CA. The opening song was recorded by Vincent Gates at his home studio in Seattle - a 2006 session my friend Joe Kaftan set up. Track #9 was written in the Virgin Islands at the St. John Songwriter Festival and recorded there by Steve Hamilton. The rest are all self-recorded, sonically improved by Holiday Music Motel engineers Billy Triplett (at the Holiday) and Steve Hamilton at Makin' Sausage in Milwaukee. I can't thank all these guys enough. And special thanks to melaniejane!!! Thank you too, for investing a little time - it's only 12 songs and most are under three minutes. :)
