freejazzy Why PM does DM? How can I know. So I started to explore. PMs version, DMs version and PMs version again. Fascinating alternating baths. Obviously they both approach us from the odd side. Love to hear DM doing PM or a dream come true DM together with PM. Favorite track: Policy of Truth.

about

"A pioneer of techno-folk pays tribute to synth-pop's penultimate heroes, offering beautifully stripped-down guitar/vocal versions of Depeche Mode's synth-driven hits."

My own personal tribute to the songs of Depeche Mode began in 1989 when i bought the cd single of "Personal Jesus" which contained lots of b-sides, including a couple acoustic demo versions. That's when i learned that Martin Gore wrote all those songs on guitar before bringing them to the band. Soon i began playing "Personal Jesus" on my solo gigs and people thought it was cool. Then, throughout the '90s i kept "decoding" other DM songs back to thier humble guitar origins, maybe adding something of my own but always staying faithful to the DM synth arrangements as much as i could. One-by-one, starting with "Policy of Truth" I translated most of their greatest hits into my native tongue (acoustic guitar) and expanded my vocabulary in the process. The album was released in 2003 on the German "Ulftone" label. Thanks to Ulf Zick (the most American sounding German man i've ever known) for releasing and promoting it all over Europe. To John Parish for producing and playing on the basic tracks. And to a bunch of friends, expecially Jeff and Connie for letting me stay at their places while i recorded the overdubs.

A midlife German label deal enabled European tours from home base in Barcelona. From Legendary Sons of Crack Daniels to Purgatory Hill &back, i now live and work projex out of the Holiday Music Motel in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. ... more
